What exists today, and what does not
Status as of 4 October 2026. PetNFO is in early development. We would rather tell you exactly where we are than let a design sound like a product.
Where things stand
Identity foundation
The internal building blocks for safe sign-up and sign-in: invitation checks, session and staff-assurance rules, and the first account storage. These are internal and cannot be used by the public.
Owner preview
A read-only web preview with made-up pets and history, used to check navigation, layout, text size and accessibility. It does not sign in or save anything.
Account storage and registration
The remaining database foundations for registration, including passkey storage and safe handling of concurrent sign-ups.
The road ahead
Order, not dates. We do not give launch dates.
Finish registration and staff access
Complete safe sign-up, staff sign-in and recovery, before anything is exposed publicly.
Pets, households and sharing
Pet profiles, family roles and owner-controlled vet access.
Records, documents and reminders
Owner and vet records, checked uploads, and opt-in reminders.
Handover, export and privacy tools
Ownership transfer, downloadable history and the privacy and access-request workflows.
Invitation-only South African beta
A small first group, only after the safety, privacy, recovery and usability checks we have set ourselves are passed.
Before real pet data is handled
Passing tests is not the same as being ready. Before any real owner or pet data is accepted we need, at least, a responsible legal entity and privacy contacts, approved notices, a costed hosting provider and region, restore and capacity drills, an email provider and usability evidence.
The directory
The directory is a separate concept being tested with businesses. It is not built and is not on the critical path of the app.
Follow PetNFO as it takes shape
We are building in the open and describing only what exists. There is no sign-up form yet; read how to take part when we are ready for you.
